No ghost projects in Taguig – Dizon

MANILA, Philippines — Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon reported on Friday that there are no ghost projects in Taguig City.

His statement affirmed the assertions of Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano.

During the Senate finance subcommittee’s hearing on the budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Cayetano asked Dizon on the status of the agency’s investigation on Taguig infrastructure projects.

“Are there any ghost projects in Taguig?” Cayetano asked.

In response, Dizon said: “None. In our investigation, none.”

Dizon noted that the investigations on flood control projects nationwide are ongoing, and the 107 projects in Taguig all have accomplishments.

Cayetano’s question arose after weeks of contending with Sen. Panfilo Lacson on the existence of flood control anomalies in Taguig City.

Lacson previously revealed that there are “ghost” projects and “misused” public funds in reclamations in Taguig.

But Cayetano repeatedly denied the allegation, even as a reported evidence on the matter was taken to the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Office of the Ombudsman. /apl
