MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies and light rain are expected in parts of northern Luzon on Tuesday due to northeasterly wind flow, the state weather bureau said.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), a strengthening northeasterly wind flow signals the approaching amihan season, or northeast monsoon.

“Dahil sa northeasterly wind flow asahan natin ang maulap na kalangitan at mahihinang pagulan sa lugar ng Batanes, Cagayan pati na rin sa Isabela,” Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres said.

(Due to the northeasterly wind flow, we can expect cloudy skies and light rains in the areas of Batanes, Cagayan as well as Isabela.)

Meanwhile, fair weather is forecast over the rest of the country, with chances of isolated rain due to thunderstorms.

No tropical storms or low pressure areas, on the other hand, are so far being monitored within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility as of Monday morning.
